I just woke up from a dream I can actually remember. For some reason, it was so vivid, so memorable... all I remember before that is waking up at two in the morning for reasons unknown. I unplugged the alarm clock and went back to sleep, where a twisted tale was beginning to unfold.

I think I was on a tropical island somewhere. In the beginning, I was flying just above the surface of the ocean, but as I lowered, there was no water. I could breathe, and there wasn't resistance... and I remember large white disks in the sand, and colourful coral-like growths. They were almost granulated, like a computer screen.

Then, I was in an enormous unlit room, with a television screen and a boxed set of DVD's. It was a set of four, but the second one was missing. I remember watching the first one. There was some sort of anime opening for it... Naruto characters, FMA-style opening. Then I could see a white fox that looked like Kyuubi. Then, somehow, I became a part of what I was watching.

And then somehow I returned to land. I don't remember any physical strain, so I wasn't running. I remember a name... Cutner. He was a doctor, and was in charge of taking care of a married couple. The husband was having the rest of his left arm amputated, but I couldn't remember why. He had a grey beard and dressed like a Jonin, with the vest and all. I thought it was Asuma. I remember that after the amputation he jumped off a cliff to take a swim, but he came back. I didn't see much of him the rest of the dream.

His wife looked exactly like Kurenai. She was eight months pregnant and was undergoing surgery to safely remove the baby via some odd form of Caesarian Section. Again, I didn't know why. I remember that I was Cutner's assistant, and that I was helping him diagnose some unexplained illness that sprang up while she was waiting for the procedure. He was trying to diagnose her using table condiments and hydrogen peroxide or some other chemical. She became gravely ill, and no one knew why. I then heard that Cutner was leaving to return to his home country. He had a treatment with him, but he was going to sell it for a $5 meal at a gourmet Indian restaurant. As he was leaving in his boat, I swam to it, grabbing the treatment manual and some medicine. When I returned, I discovered that the manual was a cookbook. It was somewhat cryptic, like the cookbook in FMA that reveals a method of human transmutation. But it wasn't enough, and the treatment was rejected.

I found myself returning to that dark, unlit room several times. After the rejection, I was sitting on the surface of a black lake. I was fishing, but I remember seeing a fuzzy image of a human ribcage rippling beneath the surface. The white fox appeared again, while I slipped into the next chapter.

I remember feeling dejected. I was with another doctor. Her face was covered with a surgical mask, so I couldn't tell who she was. The patient was having her fingerprints taken because she was on the verge of death. I suddenly had an epiphany that the patient needed a gallbladder transplant. She agreed, and we rushed to her unit. I remember feeling so useful.

But once again, we could do little more than watch as the c-section-like procedure was done. Half of her abdomen was cut open, and we finally got the baby out. As it began to cry, I woke up.

And here I am, like WTF. They say that dreams are residual thoughts that somehow become reenacted while the body is resting, but, like always, the brain is still functioning. I just want to know what it all MEANS. O.O
